INFO:
As always with Hushush, much attention has been put in the making of this release. Vrombs Mémoires paramoléculaires was available as a limited item of 700 copies only but it sold out in about a month! The CD came in a hand made and stamped CD sleeve as well as a luxury colour cardboard packaging accompanied by several inserts showing drawings of prof. H.Gaudot by Steve Deschênes. The release has its own website you should check as it contains exclusive audio tracks! http://www.hushush.com/memoires/
PRESS RELEASE:
Mémoires paramoléculaires is Vrombs first release on a Canadian label since his debut album Jeux de terre (1993). We at Hushush are very pleased to present you this fine piece of electroacoustic music composed especially for us by Hugo Girard. Inspired by the emerging Hushush sound, Mémoires paramoléculaires is a digital sequencing of analog sources. This is the result of a process of understanding Heurel Gaudots participation to Vrombs musical output. It is constructed as the first chapter in an electronic opera for ultratonical machines. Questioning our link to reality, this sci-fi musical project is a reflection on our condition as organic machines.
ABOUT VROMB:
(Canada)
Vrombs solid reputation as a unique artist is legendary amongst fans of minimal electro rhythms. Based in Montréal (Québec) Vrombs Hugo Girard is nonetheless mostly known in Europe and in the United States. Having released only but a few discs in his whole ten years and over careers span, his many followers eagerly await each release. With a style on his own, Girards project may be one of the most original act in the North American electronic music scene.

It's like something out of a Jean-Michel Jarre album. When listening to this album, I notice the sci-fi sounds, the machine-like noises and a beat from time to time, but no melody. Not that there's anything wrong with the music, but it's... different. After a few listens I decided to make "Mémoires paramoléculaires" as part of my collection of electronic music.
The best way to listen to the whole album is without interruption. Normally, there would be no silence in between the tracks. I used the right kind of software so that there would be no silence between the tracks.
I may not be good at French, but I manage to come up with English translations by using a French to English translator. The name of the album might translate to "Paramolecular Memoirs". You would notice a few English words in the track listing as well as those that you may easily make out (i.e., "Hypnose", "Vue - Eclipse"). Here are the translations I come up with on the following tracks:
1. Loop Diffusion
2. Callibration
3. Human Factor (Contour Line)
5. Subreality
9. Artificial Song
10. Elsewhere
11. Ultratonic Equipment
12. Conclusion to Silence
Oh, by the way, you might as well add "Montage A" and "B". Those are the exclusive tracks you could add to "Paramolecular Memoirs". Might as well keep them separate from the 12 tracks. Here's where you can find them:

I pride myself on having quite a broad taste but the merit of this music simply eludes me. Maybe a more refined brain than mine is required to "get" these sounds. But I just keep waiting for it to really start, and then it's already finished. Strange.

Now, I have never been the biggest fan of Vromb. Most of the Vromb material I have heard is way too monotonic for my liking. But this is one of the best damn things I have ever heard! Beautiful, enough variation to keep me interested, wonderful pulsating sounds. This is great!
